I'm going to take the next three weeks to learn some html and flash, I'm going to change up the TPP site to a Coughing Dog site. I'll probably need a lot of help from Rob and Jon and Steve. But I got three weeks with nothing to do.

The site is here for now.

For Laura Winther

Easy Mac has made my stomach angry.

The House of 1000 Corpses is a stupid ass movie.
the end.

Whoops.
Ok, so as it turns out, the one year acting class begins on Sept 7. The one year directing class begins Sept. 20. In the book I got, they're written as the same day. On the website, they are not. I called and apparently it's the 20th. But everything else is all set, I know where to go, what I have to do, yada yada yada. Now I just get an extra two weeks of sitting on my ass. Had I known, I would've tried to get a job. I'm already getting pretty bored.
That's not entirely true. This past weekeend I went boogie boarding at Hamilton Beach. It was totally gnarly. We stayed in Costa Mesa and went to a club called "The Shark Club" with vallet parking, a dress code, and real sharks swimming in a tank. And again, no NASCAR stuff. It was a lot of fun.
Also, my classes go from Sept 20 - June 5. I know there's a break for christmas, but I don't know when. I'll know more I'm sure on the 20th.

It is the end of an era. John Aitken has quit Babbage's. The curse of the Bambi is no more. He is finally free.

My friend, this is news most joyous. You must tell me all about it.

You want to be the king? You'll be the fool.

I wish I was there, I'd totally throw you a party or make a cake, or at least buy you a beer.

Did you put in two weeks or did you flip out on her and leave? That would be so awesome.

I gotta hear how this happened. I'll call you.

The new Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash is at 1045 Westwood Blvd. It's about 20 miles from here. Also, my first day of classes they're having the DVD release party of both Jersey Girl and Clerks X as well as the grand opening of the store from 5p to 10p. Universal is about halfway between here and Westwood, so I will most definately be going to that.

"I'm the crazy big bearded hobbit."

(I said that last night. I was told I looked like a hobbit with my curly hair.)

Johanna, I'm definately up for that Movies Askew thing, but it doesn't say how to enter. Also there's a Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash opening near here. I have to find out where. That'd be a cool job, eh? Then technically I'd have worked for Kevin Smith.

I'm also entering Twelve Page Paper in some Film Festivals around the country. I found a really easy and comprehensive way to go about finding and entering it. This website called Without A Box.

I suddenly feel like the Bee Girl in that Blind Melon video for No Rain. You know where she is dressed like the bee and runs around tap dancing for everyone and no one cares and then finally she finds the field of bee girls and they all accept her and she is happy. EVERYTHING in this town is about the entertainment industry. Tons of people are a director or an animator or an actor. Everywhere I turn there's someone who can help me do this, or has advice about that. I pass people on the streets talking about how their auditions went. This is so cool. You could look at it as competition, or you could look at it as a community of people who are all knowledgeable about what it is you're trying to do. It doesn't feel competitive at all, because I'm not producing anything yet. Everyone seems really helpful. John, Curtis's friend, told me all about places to get actors (free actors), how to advertise, and about this Without A Box site. Everyone I know knows someone here and is telling me to call them so I can know someone in the business. I can get my education and then leave L.A. and make films in a calmer environment, or I can stay... and then it WILL get competitive. Either way, I think I'll do alright. It just amazing to be surrounded by people who are passionate about what you're passionate about. Must be what college is like if you know what you want to do.

I saw the Hollywood sign for the first time last night. I was pretty far away still, but it was visable. Very very cool.

This isn't as intimidating as I thought it would be. At least not yet. I really think I can handle this. Lets hope in like three months I don't come back here wondering what I was thinking. :)

Maybe this is just my niche. Maybe I finally found it. Maybe I should just shut up and not jinx it all, eh?

"A Scary Smurf Strangling a Baby."

Yesterday was a lot of fun. My roommate Curtis and his friend John and I went out to eat at Mo's in Taluca Lake. Our waitress was a funny girl, who during the course of our evening made the loudest and most authentic velociraptor noise I have heard from a person.

After that we went to a theater in North Hollywood to see the premiere of some film called Harlequin which was about 45 minutes long, along with two other short films. These were done much like Twelve Page Paper, and the premiere seemed to be all people who knew each other, except us. We went because John had done some work on the credits so he got tickets. The movie was actually pretty good, a little creepy. At one point in the night, Curtis asked, "Hey, I don't know if you guys caught this, but does it seem like there are a lot of asians here?" Sarcasm, as a good 95% of the people at the screening and everyone in the film was asian.

On the way home we decided to stop at a bar. The three of us happened to sit next to three single cute girls at the bar. We hung out and talked to them all night, which was going well until a few other guys decided to butt in on us and try to take over, and then Curtis knocked over the bartenders rubber mat and simultaneuosly spilled about eight drinks. We had a lot of fun though.

On the way home we stopped at a Jack In The Box. Mistake. Then we watched Futurama and Sealab 2021.

It was all a lot of fun.

And I've noticed something. People look at each other here. They smile. Not like in Michigan where we go out of our way to avoid eye contact. It's pretty nice.

Peace hombres.
Oh, the rather macabre title is something Curtis said about his parents trying to scare him into going to church. They used to tell him demons could possess his toys and stuffed animals unless he prayed.

Yesterday's post was translated from english to spanish to dutch and back to english. This is the result.

I given a fresh hunting with the high speed of L.A. . She has passed well my immediacy. Exactly for my house. This car is, and such as 4 LAPD auto's after him and then the two reels of the wire of helicopter auto-cycle will fly and then have flown, and the unsolved block-system have surrounded such as 3 hours have revealed. I recommend later collected type to , but they run during a moment. He has done costs.

I saw a cool L.A. high speed chase today. It went right through my neighborhood. In fact right in front of my house. This car went flying by and like 4 LAPD cars flew after it, and then two motorcycle cops, and then the helicopter showed up and circled the block for like 3 hours. I guess they eventually caught the guy, but they were looking for him for a while. It was coooool.

"Your sauce will mix with ours... and we'll make a good goolash, baby..."
It's 9pm out here in California. I talked to Erin today. I talked to Robbie today. I talked to Brent, and my mom today. I finished reading the Da Vinci Code again today. I ate a terrible fried chicken TV dinner today. I checked everyone else's blogs, and no one else is writing anymore. I was hoping the three pimps site would live anew, however it now looks as if I am the only one holding that dream. Sadly, Nopa still hasn't posted the trip review, and though I was there, I'd still like to see it.
Jackie, come back to three pimps! Please, it's so lonely without the crackwhore.
peace.
By the way, everyone is still blogging, most of you guys have posted today or yesterday... it's just I don't have a lot to do but play on the internet, and I've probably checked your sites about five times each today alone. You are not posting fast enough.

When Jon and I got to LA, my roommate told us that a Hawaiian Tropic Model had just moved out of my room. I just found out this is her.

Another Taste. Enjoy.

BoRh.avi (28MB)

Well, I've started work on the video. I think I'm going to go through the entire thing and put together some sort of funny little thing. For now here's a little taste of the trip.

Please note, this is rated R. (i.e. "Mom, I drop the F-Bomb, you've been warned.")

Also, you're going to need DivX to see it. Get DivX.

PulpK.avi (16MB) (Right Click... Save Target As)

More to come. Enjoy.

What to do today...

No idea.

I think I'mgoing to go back to Burbank and see all the cool stuff there. I wonder how much a studio tour costs. Maybe I could go through Warner Bros. Maybe I could just stay in again until I get my loan check. I need to buy a desk.

VERY IMPORTANT PROPOSITION

I vote to bring back the Three Pimps Site. Jon, this is up to you. Also, get Rob and Lola on it, and we can all converse there. It will be joyous.

IT MUST BE DONE!

I just watched all the video that we did on our trip out here, and I gotta say, it's quite funny. At least I think so. I'm going to work the rest of it together and find a way for other people to see it. I was thinking of putting it on the Coughing Dog Site. But of course, that means there needs to be a Coughing Dog Site. First thing's first.

Robbie and Lola are in NYC now. I hope things are going great for you guys. I hope you like your place. I hope you have the internet, otherwise you can't read any of this.

I need a desk. Computer on floor = Carpal Tunnel. My hands are killing me.

I got this from Johanna's site. You pick a band, and then answer the questions only in song titles from that band. Give it a shot, yo.

Pearl Jam
Are you male or female: "Man of the Hour"
How do some people feel about you: "Drifting" "Glorifed G"
How do you feel about yourself: "1/2 Full" "I Am Mine"
Describe your ex-boy/girlfriend: "Trouble" or "Rearviewmirror."
Describe your current/future girlfriend/boyfriend: "Hard to Imagine"
Describe where you want to be: "Around the Bend"
Describe what you want to be: "I'm Open"
Describe how you live: "Live For Today"
Describe how you love: "Push Me, Pull Me" heh heh, Just kidding, "Faithful" "State of Love and Trust"
Share a few words of wisdom: "Spin the Black Circle"

I can't get over how beautiful this song is.

In other news, Burbank is awesome. I was there today, and I saw the Warner Bros Water Tower where Yakko, Wakko, and Dot live. (If you don't get that, you're a loser... or maybe it's me).

My room is still lacking, but my bed and stuff should get here tomorrow. It'll be easier than sleeping on this tiny air mattress. I keep rolling off of it.

I've gotten used to the time change, as it's 1:45am, making it damn near five in the morning where most of my readers are.

I'm going to put the bed together tomorrow, get my bank stuff set up, then hopefully get the trip video put together.

I'm going to bed.

Goodbye for now.

as the curtain comes down I feel that this is just
goodbye for now."

I'm here.

Jon just left, and now I'm in my new house in Glendale... all alone. Wade is in Vegas, Curtis is in Canada, and Jamie is at work. So it's just me.

My room here is a decent size, I have my own porch. The neighborhood is really nice. The view is extremely cool. Downtown LA is about 20 miles south, and just north is a big mountain with lots of really big houses.

The trip was awesome. Jon and I had a great time. We got a lot of footage of things, so hopefully I can post it on Jon's site and people can check out the highlights. I need to set up my computer first (I'm using Jamie's). I also need to get a desk.... and a bed... and a few other things.

Las Vegas was overwhelming.

Glendale is a pretty sweet town. There's a huge mall and a strip on the main street that has everything I'd ever need, all within walking distance. Traffic is a little crazy, so it's probably quicker to walk than to drive.

The weather is beautiful. Sunny and around 100 everyday, but it's not like 100 in Michigan. Feels like maybe 80.

I haven't met Curtis yet, I met Wade briefly. Jamie seems really cool.

The Rocky Mountains are amazing to drive through.

Kansas is depressing to the point of contemplating suicide to drive through.

Jonny is going to put up a list of random quotes and things from the trip on his site. Check for that soon. Maybe Tuesday.

I'm going to try to post a lot while I'm out here.

I miss all of you guys already.

love -Joe.
